ProjectLab Wins DTU’s 2021 Teaching Award :-)

The Technical University of Denmark recognized our work on the ProjectLab with its annual Teaching Award! I am very, very proud of seeing something that started as 2 boxes in an unmarked hallway cabinet to become a best-in-class project management teaching ecosystem. I share the award with my friends and colleagues Christian Thuesen (who honestly did the bulk of the heavy lifting over the years), Joana Geraldi (now at CBS) and my former PhD and PostDoc Verena Stingl (now at Aalborg).

You can find the DTU press release here .

Here are some of the things the ProjectLab does. Also check out the ProjectLab website here.

  • Provide basic project management education to all students at DTU at the bachelor level. Offer advanced project management classes on the master level to everyone who is interested

  • Scale up project-based teaching (in project management) to cohorts of hundreds of students per term

  • Connect the students to the “real world” of project management beyond the project they work on:

    • Through the development of project management tools - like the Project Canvas

    • By co-creating the Project ConceptBox - a Wiki of project management tools - together with the students. Google loves the ConceptBox, and our Wiki articles on the different tools are typically among the top three links you will find in a Google search on the subject.

    • By making our classes on project management be actually project-based

    • By offering certifications together with Dansk Standard
